Geocache Description:

Check out the wonderful view for Waterloo!

On a dark, cold and windy night on St Helena Island, a guard stood amoung the crowd and and spoke of an Indigenous Quandamooka man who was caught returning an axe that was not his. This man, know as Napoleon was charged with the crime of theft and for his punishment Napoleon was taken to Noogoon, locally known as Green Island two in Moreton Bay (which was later renamed to St Helena Island in 1826 because it housed the exiled, trapped and illusive Australian Indigenous Napoleon). Napoleon was left to starve on the island was found two days later back on Stradbroke Island to the amazement of the local troopers and the legend grew from there. This grew to include Waterloo Bay with its connection to the real Napoleon Bonaparte and the Battle of Waterloo where Duke Wellington (as in Wellington Point) battled Bonaparte for the British King (as in King Island) which were all immortally remembered and hence named by the surveyor Robert Dixon in 1842. There's no need to go cross country either and bring your own pen.
