Now for the Cache:
This 39 acre park with rolling terrain features a large pavilion for group functions, picnic areas, playground for children, restrooms, a rainwater harvest system, and a nice trail network in the wooded areas. This park also features an eighteen basket disc golf course.
John Burge Park at Shadow Lakes is named for a man who first served on the Conroe Parks & Recreation Advisory Board when the department had just four parks and three employees. The City of Conroe now has 26 parks throughout the community.
John Burge, a career banker, had been active in community affairs, community service organizations, and has been a civic leader since moving to Conroe in 1963. John Burge passed in 2017. Having this park named after John Burge is a well-deserved honor for a man who has given so much back to the community.
The new road, M.P. Clark, is now open. Recent satellite imagery still shows M.P. Clark as dirt.
