Geocache Description:

14 April 2019, 10:00 - 11:30

It is time for Spring Cleaning! I know, everyone's favorite thing... but seriously... I was out jogging along the Santa Fe Rail Trail and noticed that this area could use a good clean up. Having been thinking about hosting a CITO for a while now, I made a mental note of the location and continued on my jog. Now that the weather is warming up, I want head back out to this spot with some trash bags and do a little civic duty to help clean up our fine city. The Santa Fe Rail Trail is a wonderful public space providing miles of trails starting at the Railyard district and spidering out all over the city... even as far as El Dorado! It is perfect for getting some much needed outside time without having to go far from town. I certainly appreciate it and want to give back a little by helping to keep the area around it clean. Come join me! We can talk geocaching while we clean, and... you will earn a Souvenir on GC.com for attending.

The general plan for this CITO:

  • Meet at 10:00am at the posted coordinates.
  • Distribute trash bags for people to use
  • Clean up trash from 10:00-11:00 or maybe longer depending on how much trash we find. Get all the trash loaded into my car (or if someone brings a truck, that would be even more awesome!) and bid our fair farewells at 11:30.

I will bring trash bags, but I recommend attendees bring their own gloves and trash picker-uppers. Also, bring hats, sturdy shoes and sunscreen. Depending on how many people show up, we can divide up into groups. How far we go along the trail depends on how many people show up, but my first thought is to concentrate on the triangular area of open space around the posted coordinates. If I get enough "Will Attend" logs, I may bring everyone some sweet treats from the nearby Chocolate Maven. Yum! There are a couple places nearby where you can park, and you can use whichever spot suits you, but I will include parking coordinates as well for those who want to park in the same spot as me.
