A peaceful cache by the side of one of my favourite footpaths. The route basically follows the course of the rivers Caldbeck and Caldew between the two villages of Caldbeck and Hesket Newmarket (where there is abundant parking). It can be approached from either end, and combined with the other caches in the area, but be warned, it get very, very muddy. So, unless the ground is frozen or we have had a long dry period, then wellies or walking boots are highly recommended. This Geocache was placed with the kind permission of the ‘Caldbeck and Hesket Newmarket Parish Council’.
These are two of the most beautiful and peaceful of all the Lakeland villages, lying at the foot of the Northern Fells and just inside the Lake District National Park. The timeless character of the area has been preserved as a conservation area where ponies, sheep, cattle and even ducks roam freely. There are lots of amenities and picturesque local walks of all standards; from easy strolls (like this one), to the more strenuous nearby mountains of High Pike or Carrock Fell.
I am a massive rock music fan and aim to give clues to each of my caches with reference to one of my favourite bands: Heart are a rock band which formed in Seattle in the1960s. Initially successful in Canada, then the U.S.A and later worldwide. Heart have had many line-up changes, with the constant centre of the group (since 1974) being sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson. They rose to fame in the mid-1970s with music influenced by hard rock, heavy metal as well as folk. After a decline in popularity, they had a resurgence in the mid-1980s, and experienced even greater success with album oriented rock hits and hard rock ballads. They have sold over 35 million records sale worldwide, but have been on 'hiatus' since 2016.
