Geocache Description:

Name the Golden Horseshoe Region represented by this coat of Arms

Although we could not find specific meaning or origin attributed to this Coat of Arms, here is what we surmised based on the description from http://www.gg.ca; The region is bounded by two large bodies of water, one to the north and one to the south, which equals the placement of the water lines on the shield. The maple leaf represents Canada, and it is within a circle of fifteen maple seeds. The water theme continues into The Crest, which is a mural coronet with maple leaves alternating with anchors, and a blue demi lion holding between its forepaws a canal sluice gate wheel, probably in reference to the Trent-Severn waterway which flows through part of this region. The supporters are standing on a mound of three forested hills, set with 15 pine cones. One is a stag with a collar of Mississauga Wampum. The collar is a nod to the First Nations People, who used the wampum belt as a form of record keeping. The squares on the collar represent nations, and the straight line between them represents an agreement of peace. The other supporter is a 'sinister' mare with a collar of apple blossoms with a blue cogwheel, which represents industry. The Region's Motto is set below.
