The Williamson Valley Road Series is a Friends of Morgan Ranch Nature Park history project. Even numbered caches are on the E side of the Rd; odd on the W for 44 mi. WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU WORK 1 SIDE OF THE ROAD AT A TIME. Please pick up trash so the neighborhood trash-pickers are not drawn to the location.
MORGAN RANCH NATURE PARK
MRNP is a 15-acre Yavapai County park located 13 miles north of Prescott at the intersection of Williamson Valley Road and Nancy Drive. The board of supervisors officially established the park on April 3, 2006. The mission of the Morgan Ranch Park Association, Inc. (MRPAI) is to preserve and maintain the historical, biodiverse, and recreational values of the park. The park preserves a portion of the historic Cooper-Morgan Ranch.
COOPER-MORGAN FAMILY
John and Martha Cooper arrived in the Arizona Territory in 1909. The seven Cooper children attended school at Simmons and Granite Mountain. Nancy married Waldo Bozarth, Learah married Jack Morgan, Roy married Nel Sweeten, and William remained a bachelor. For more than years, the families ran tens of thousands of goat, sheep, and cattle from Congress, Arizona, to the Verde River east of Chino Valley. The Morgan Ranch Nature Park is located on what was the Cooper-Morgan Ranch.
