In the 1940's a Tai Tapu Dairy truck used to come to this corner and stop at a small platform built at the base of the Blue Gum Tree, to collect Cans left by local farmers.
Cream Can Corner was purchsed by the Selwyn District Council in 2008 off the farmers in the area and the Blue Gum Tree has Heritage Status.
