Church Micro 7173...Wymington
This cache has been placed to bring you to the church of St Lawrence, Wymington.
This cache is a pot a little bigger than a 35mm film pot. It is not big enough for trackables. The cache only contains a log - you are a geocacher, you should have a writing implement! Please note that the final cache is located outside the churchyard and is NOT accessible from inside the churchyard. Please be respectful in the churchyard and park sensibly and safely in the village. Recommended parking is in Church Lane, opposite the village hall.
The Church
The parish church of St Lawrence was built in the mid-14th century. It was built for John Curteys who, with his wife, is buried in the chancel and work started in 1350. Apparently the masons responsible came from Northamptonshire but were given a somewhat tighter budget for this church and were assisted by some local workmen. The tower and spire are lavishly ornamented. The interior is rich and complex, with a fine nave roof and the remains of a portrayal of the Doom. The county's best example of the luxuriant spirit of the 14th century.
