Entrance to Kirkharle Village with a beautiful view over stunning Northumbrian Countryside. This is the landscape that inspired Lancelot 'Capability' Brown who was born her in 1716 and worked on this land for 7 years before travelling south to make his fortune and ending his landscape career as gardener to the King of England - George 111.
Notice the 'laid' hedge to the left of the gate posts - a traditional skill, almost now gone, to create a stock proof field boundry without the need for fencing, wire or stone wall.
