7:30am - 9:00am
Please join us for Geocaching's CITO event in conjunction with Keep Scottsdale Beautiful program. We will pick up litter on a 1-mile stretch (both sides) of Scottsdale Road between Pinnacle Peak and Happy Valley. Parking available along Scottsdale Road but be mindful of bikers and traffic. Please group bags together along Scottsdale Road as much as possible to make it easier for the City to stop and pick them up.
Beginning at 7:30am: meet at GZ, the outdoor patio area of Jalapeno Inferno (permission granted from manager) to sign the log sheet, complete the "Participant Agreement Form", pick up supplies, raffle ticket and water
7:45am: group photo
7:50am: rafffle drawing for 5 unactivated trackables and several cache containers
8:00am: start CITO
We are working closely with the City of Scottsdale who will provide safety vests, litter bags and will remove the trash we gather. Geocachers should wear long pants, long sleeve shirts, hat and sunscreen for protection from the thorny plants and trees. Please also bring thick gloves and grabbers if you have them. We'll provide water. Snacks and bathroom are available in nearby Safeway.
Per City of Scottsdale regulations: All volunteers will be required to sign a "Participant Agreement Form and Waiver of Liability". Children between the ages of 12-17 must have parental supervision on the road and no children under the age of 12 are permitted to participate on the road
. Even though not permitted on the roads, younger children may participate in the CITO by cleaning up around GZ with parental supervision.
All geocachers are welcome to attend. As a bonus, those attending CITO events Sept 15-23 will earn a special CITO souvenir for their geocaching profile.
Contact us if you have any questions and please post your "Will Attend" log indicating how many in your party to ensure we have enough supplies. See you there!
