This is a simple cache placed along the West Branch of Fish Creek, at a former crossroad between Blossvale and Camden. There is a significant drop-off near the cache, so surefootedness is critical.
The abutments at the cache site formerly supported a bridge connecting Trestle Road and Buell Road. The road was useable until the 1970s or 1980s, when the Camden Town Supervisor decided to remove the bridge and abandon that section of road to reduce maintenance and liability issues. Since then, the Buell Road side of the bridge has been maintained, but most of Trestle Road remains a minimally-maintained dirt road. There are a few historical structures and foundations leading up to the bridge along Trestle Road, but the land surrounding the Trestle Road side of the creek is privately owned and not accessible. The Buell Road side of the creek is a popular party and fishing spot.
The cache is a small bottle hidden on the Buell Road side of the bridge remains. It is camouflaged and secured with string. Be mindful of the drastic elevation change when approaching the cache. Please sign the log and ensure the container is well-hidden upon departure. Also, please share any history or recollections of this road when it was in use in the site logs below.
