Geocache Description:

A mystery cache in a series exploring the horror stories, films, myths and supernatural events of today and yesterday. Find them if you dare!

Check out other NW Horror Caches at Loughermore scene of The Evil Dead (GC82XHF) and The Blair Witch Project (GC82XXG) which are a short drive away.

The solution checker is not needed for this puzzle and all you need will unfold as you go through the cache. The cache is in two parts. The first part contains a micro container carefully hidden in the bridge girders and it provides a set of coordinates to the second part. The second part which is a short walk away is the actual puzzle and will provide you with the log if solved. Take careful note where you take the initial cache container from as you will have to put it back there. The coordinates may be a bit out because of the trees but the hint will get you there.

This cache is a micro with a twist in the Ardmore area of Derry/Londonderry. Parts of the area resemble the scene of a horror movie including a number of derelict buildings. This cache does not require you to walk into any derelict buildings. Respect the signage indicating unsafe areas and do not cross safety fencing where it has been erected. Do not attempt anything that you do not feel is within your capability or safe to do. This cache is located a short distance from the carparking. Clues are in the hint and may or may not be in the cache page.

The Saw franchise of horror films revolved around twisted psychopath John Kramer, better known as Jigsaw, who abducted his victims and rather than killing them outright set them challenges for which the prize was life and the price of failure a gruesome death. Although the character died in the third of the series the rest of the films concentrated on the legacy of his malign influence, as flashbacks captured the physical and psychological torture he inflicted on his victims but which he believed were their path to redemption and rehabilitation.

As you stand upon this lonely battered bridge put yourself in the place of one of these victims. A puzzle is hidden in this desolate place that will either drive you to the edge of madness or present a geocaching log as your path to redemption. There is only one cardinal rule here, if you can't crack the code then you acknowledge it with your DNF. If not then the only guarantee is that your sins will find you out and madness will follow. Take the puzzle back to your car and work away at it. Pay no heed to what may emerge from the shadows as the clock runs down. But if you can't make it work then put it back exactly where you found it and confess your inadequacies or Jigsaw will come to show you the error of your ways.
