Geocache Description:

Did you know that one of Fort Worth’s own made a name for himself asking contestants to “Come on down!” on The Price Is Right? While the phrase was first uttered by Johnny Olson during his long tenure as the announcer for the popular CBS game show, Roddy delivered the line with high-pitched power and much greater exuberance than his predecessor. From 1986 to Roddy’s death in 2003, the phrase belonged to him.

It’s not at all controversial to say that TCU graduate Rod Roddy was the last of the great TV announcers – even if his voice, size and manner of dress – he liked flashy outfits – was quite different from most of the greats.

Roddy is buried under a nice shade tree at stage 1, alongside his mother and other relatives. Have a look at his simple grave marker and let it guide you the final stage. The final is a nano and is outside the cemetery in another well-manicured area nearby.

What are the first three words on Roddy’s grave marker?

If they’re “World’s Greatest Announcer”, go to N 32° 45.472 W 097° 22.212.

If they’re “Mike The Microphone”, go to N 32° 45.482 W 097° 22.202.

If they’re “Soap’s Famous Announcer”, go to N 32° 45.362 W 097° 22.222.

If they’re “Press Your Luck”, go to N 32° 45.552 W 097° 22.232.
