AR_My students said my 1st one was boring! (Wgtn) Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

NZ_B: This was my second AR cache and you travel some distance to get all the clues. Since creating this cache I have put out a better one in Upper Hutt, so it is time for this to be archived. Many thanks to all those who found it.

Geocache Description:

Yes, that is correct!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Although they were more polite than that 😀😀.

So they have helped me set up this one -well, the Metaverse section that is- and added lots of new experiences (e.g. sound so have your volume turned on). I have also improved the cache and it isn't as simple as my first AR cache.

This cache is part of an experiment that allows the use of Augmented Reality (AR) apps to find the cache. At the end of this experiment, Geocaching HQ will decide if this cache will be grandfathered or archived. Geocaching HQ reserves the right to archive this cache at any time if conditions change. If you have found this cache and would like to give feedback on your experience, please fill out this survey.

What is AR?

Augmented Reality is a new phenomenon which takes the image that your mobile device sees and is able to add in extra things for you to interact with. Currently some of the software that is available to produce Augmented Reality is a bit buggy. I have been told it can crash on Android phones. The app does use mobile data when being played. There is definitely a lot of potential though for Augmented Reality to add to the geocaching experience in the future and this is certainly its early stages. This is my first try using this app and the cache is an easy activity -much like a multi. If you have ideas for a more creative way of using the app for geocaching, message me and I will aim to put it out before the 6th September.

To get started you will need to download the Metaverse app on your smart phone. Link app on iOS and Android.

Once you have downloaded the app search for GC7WW68.

So here we (you) go!

I have contacted the Principals of the schools you 'visit' and all are aok about you being looking at their signs to gather information, as long as you visit on weekdays outside of these times 8.15 - 9.00 a.m. and then again from 3.00 - 3.30 p.m., as they have a lot of school traffic then. Once you have gathered the data, feel free to drive to a nearby street to look at the app again and get the next instructions.

Your AR experience starts at the coordinates above where there is a lot of car parks (you won't be there long enough to get a parking ticket) and as usual, the cache is not at these coordinates.

This time all the 'slides' have a 'normal' AR background. Move your phone sideways and up and down until you find the speech bubble with the instructions/information.

When testing the Metaverse program, I noticed that the 'slides' that require you to enter text for the answer are saving the text from the previous answer. Just delete, type in your new text, tap Next and you'll be fine.

I recommend you bring pen and paper as there is some 'data' you need to collect on the way to GZ -the data will help you find GZ.
