This geocache is set to earn my Geocaching Scout Badge,
The current troop was founded at the start of 2005, having been closed for a few years.
Early 2005 saw the group update its identity. We introduced our own group badge. It is a representation of a the old water pump located in the centre of the village and is a symbol that has been associated with the group for a number of years.
We also reviewed the colours of our group scarf, because after a number of years the original colours had become "lost". Having no record of the original it appeared that everyone had a slightly different colour, so it was decided to have a new batch of neckerchiefs made so allow everyone to look the same. Our group scarf colours are a blue edge on a red background.
We are part of Wiltshire West District, which was created by merging the old West and South West Wilts Districts. Our new District encompasses the towns of Trowbridge (on the border with Somerset), Westbury, Bradford on Avon, Melksham, Warminster and their surrounding communities and stretches all the way out to Mere on the Wiltshire/Dorset border.
But we know there was a Scout group in Hilperton long ago.
