An easy to find traditional cache just below the peak of Miðfell. From the peak you will have a great view into the valley Seljalandsdalur, to the mountains behind Ísafjörður as well as Ísafjörður itself.
When you walk to the cache you will also notice some ski lifts and indeed Seljalandsdalur is a ski region during the winter time.
The hike to the cache starts easy, but the terrain gets rougher when you hike up the mountain. Hiking boots are highly recommended.
As always in Iceland: Be prepared. The weather might change very fast (fog!), the wind might pick up and the temperature might be much cooler once you gain in height. GSM reception is actually not that bad in the area (also 3G), but there might be "dead spots".
Directions to the cache
Park your car at the parking coordinates. Please notice that you are no allowed to drive any further. For the hike to cache please notice the additional waypoints. From the parking, proceed to the first checkpoint. From there is straightforward: Follow the easy to walk gravel track until you reach "checkpoint 2". From there it is a Zic-Zac via checkpoint 3 and 4 - You are still on a gravel track. Starting from checkpoint 4, however, you leave this track and proceed uphill. While this "trail" is marked on a lot of hiking maps you get in hotels etc, it is not actually visible in the field. Make your way uphill using the Checkpoints 5-7. Eventually, the terrain is rather flat again and you can proceed directly to the cache.
