Captain Derby has retired to Cannon Beach after four decades of sailing the oceans of the world. Since he spends most of his time on the beach now, he is known as the Beach Captain.
The Captain loves ice cream. His main goal in retirement is to gaze out to sea and consume ice cream cone after ice cream cone. Not surprisingly, his favorite flavor is salted caramel!
For years, the Beach Captain has been saving coins for a retirement ice cream fund.
He just counted, and discovered he has $13,405.50, all in U.S. coins!
How many coins does he have? He has left you a clue 100 feet from the posted coordinates for this cache!
He is quite sure you will know it when you spot it! By the way, there is good parking (if you are lucky!) at the posted coordinates as well.

The cache is a half mile away, which makes for a very pleasant walk if you are up for it.
Finding your way to the cache may be a bit challenging, but that's all part of the fun the Captain wants you to have!
The cache is a short distance into a beautiful forest, and can be reached on fairly well-established trails. NO BUSHWHACKING NEEDED!
After finding the cache, enjoy an ice cream cone in honor of the Beach Captain - salted caramel, of course!
