Welcome to AR_Nottingham's Hidden Treasures
This AR cache will take you on a trail around some of Nottingham's Hidden Treasures, showcasing many places and sights that get overlooked and walked straight past daily.
This is not a quick "cache n dash", it is a walk of just over 3 miles around Nottingham's town centre, but it could be done on multiple visits. You will be led by a familiar looking tour guide, through 5 AR experiences. The first experience starts just outside Nottingham Cathedral on Derby Road. At the end of each experience you will be given a password which you will need to start the next experience. At the end of the final experience you will be given the co-ordinates to a physical cache location.
To be able to play this cache you will need to have a compatible smartphone runnning the "Metaverse" app. The app is available on Android and iOS.
The experience has been tested on various devices, and works well on all current smartphones tested. The experience wouldn't work on an older Android device (Samsung Galaxy S3) when tested, even though the same device would run some AR caches.

When you load each experience you will have the choice of running the experience with full AR (where you will see your tour guide "live" on the street in front of you), or with the AR turned off so see your guide on a background.
I have found it is sometimes hard to spot your guide when playing in AR mode. To find him look around until the buttons appear on your screen, then try turning him using two fingers from side to side across your screen, or "pinching" your screen to make him bigger or smaller. If you're still struggling use the back button and run the cache without AR.
I would suggest the cache should only be done during the daytime; at one point you will be required to photograph an item, and the recognition system struggles if it is dark!
