Geocache Description:

Zop, Kettlecornman, and I went for a hike. We were looking for adventure and Oh Boy! did we find it.

We were trying to get away from the crowds, but they seemed to be everywhere we went. Somehow we found ourselves in a parking lot, with a path in need of exploring. Who were we not to oblige? We followed it here and there, while passing only a few, fellow explorers, along the way. It seemed as if we had found what we were looking for, but not what we were expecting to find!

After a while, time slipped away, and space was everywhere, and nowhere, all-at-once. How did we get here? Where were we? We slowed. We listened. We paid attention. We came to a stop. We looked at each other and around us, when all of a sudden, a bay tree shook. Or did it wiggle? Do trees wiggle!? Each of us looked to the other, like The Three Stooges. If we had had our wits about us, we would have laughed, but we didn't. Our wits were no-where to be found!

The tree shook again, but in a way that seemed to be a communication. I didn’t recognize it at 1st. Neither did KCM or Zop. It wiggled again after another moment (or was it a lifetime or a millisecond?) Then Zop and KCM saw a pattern. Being puzzle cachers, it took them only three wiggle/shakes to see this tree was communicating! This, my fellow cachers, is one of the many reasons I keep friends like them close. Another reason it because people like Zop and KCM make memories worth keeping.

Neither of them spoke, but communicated through eye signal and hand gestures…I was out of the loop but never not invited… each circled the bay, one on each side. I stood there, wishing I knew Morse code or American Sign Language or hand-held semaphore communications (wait they aren’t holding flags), but I did not.

I had a “Which way did he go George? Which way did he go?” moment trying to decide who to follow. That is when split the difference and walked right up to the tree. But then where was I?

Suddenly I was on the other side of the Laurus nobilis, and my hiking companions were circling to me, when only a moment before they were circling away.

?!?!?!?! We exchanged another Three Stooges eye exchange, our wits still lost, after stopping dead in our tracks. What in the name of “making memories” just happened? Startled, I took a step back, and I was again transported to the other side of the tree, leaving my hiking crew on the “other side” sans C-MNM.

That’s when I realized I was in my element, and they could use my expertise. Sorry friends, I don’t mean to sound cocky, but I do bring my own skill-set to these adventures, as well you now know. . I took one step back to where I was previously, with my friends flanking each of my sides, but this time I had something in my hands! (That’s what I get to thinking I knew what was going on! What is happening!?!)

I glanced to each side of me, each of us acknowledging our confounded expressions. That is when the sign-language I didn’t understand moments earlier, became known and fluent to me. Reconvening on familiar ground, aka the trail, I opened the capsule and we explored what was held inside. It had a pad of paper and trinkets, for realms beyond. Some wanted to travel, but we were uncertain which realms were their ultimate destinations.

We left the vessel and it’s contents there, and walked away, stunned. I offer you here, the coordinates of where this astonishing memory occurred. It is my hope that the container remains in this realm, for you to rummage through, and that you are only transported according to your will. My only request: you sign the diary held within, and if you move any trinket/trackable through this time and space, that it make it safely to its destination.
