This cache is one of eight leaf themed caches that were published on the morning of 9/22 for the CCLP's Leaf Olympics. Each cache page contains either fun leaf facts, a leaf anecdote from a member of the CCLP, or a brief history of the cache's location. Prospective prize winners will be required to find all eight caches, procure the secret letter contained within, and spell an event themed word in order to win a spin on the CCLP's fantastical Prize Wheel...Wheel...Wheel!!!
Our stinky neighbors to the south had a habit of raking all their leaves and grass in to a long line along the cornfield that sits behind our property for the purpose of burning. Usually a leaf pile burning delights the CCLP, but the effect of the grass mixed in created a huge quantity of heavy smoke that smelled like old dog. Every Fall until they moved they burned this pile, which would take days as it slowly moved from one end to the other. It made our home and world reek! We joked that we all had just returned from putting out a fire at Rumpke Mountain! Why did Mr. Crunchy never confront this neighbor, you ask? Because Rick was a mean and scary man who terrified poor Mr. Crunchy.
