Geocache Description:

Mittagong Bypass

This cache MUST be approached from the southbound lanes of the Hume Highway. Do NOT attempt it from the northbound lanes. Do NOT cross the highway, either on foot or attempting a U-Turn. (If you are travelling northbound you can exit the highway 500m past the cache's posted coordinates at the Hill Top exit at Church Avenue and from there you can re-enter the highway's southbound lanes. Once you sign the log, you can take the Mittagong exit where you can turn around and resume your journey northbound.) Please park at one of the two designated parking waypoints only. As you walk to the monument (WP1), please keep to the grass. Do not walk on the bitumen or the highway. The cache container is an easy walking distance and will not place you in any danger. Please be mindful of high speed traffic when re-entering the highway.
The "Mittagong Bypass" forms part of the Hume Highway and diverts heavy traffic away from the old Great Southern Road and the towns it serviced. There is a monument commemorating the Mittagong Bypass' completion which was officially opened by the Premier of New South Wales, The Hon John Fahey, who was also the Member for the Southern Highlands.

To find the cache.

At waypoint 1 you will find a plaque. On the plaque you will find six numbers. Listing them in order, let's call them ABCDEF. Use the following to calculate the final coordinates.

South 34 24.(D-A)((E-A)/2)(F+F) East 150 29.(B+F)(B)(F+A)

Checksum S=29, E=36
