A suburb of Canberra located in Weston Creek, Fisher was named after Andrew Fisher (1862-1928), coal miner, founding member of the federal parliamentary Labor Party, and Australia's 5th Prime Minister. Fisher introduced a vast amount of legislation, including the acquisition of the Northern Territory from South Australia, and compulsory military training. Here at the entrance to the suburb, you can find an informative sign, and a geocache located very close to it.
