The Wash Brook Nature Reserve is a large triangular piece of land located within the Knighton Ward area and is bisected by the Wash Brook. The Midland Mainline Railway runs alongside one of the boundaries and trains can be heard frequently throughout the day (and night!).
There is a footbridge that spans the Wash Brook and allowing access to all areas of the nature reserve. A great little area for taking the children or dogs for a run around.
The reserve consists of native broad-leaved woodland, a field pond and the Wash Brook. In addition, there are areas of rough grassland which provide additional habitats for invertebrates, birds and mammals. Occasionally muntjac deers have been seen in this area.
We have chosen to use film titles for the nearby cache names as these either pretty well describe the containers or their locations. This cache is off of the main footpath and just behind the front row of trees and bushes. Plenty of room for swaps.
Access is from Knighton Lane East (near the railway bridge) or from the path that runs under the railway line between the Sir Jonathan North Community College and Cheviot Road/Neston Road.
Suggested parking would be either outside the Lancaster Academy/Sir Jonathan North CC (however the latter can get very busy during school periods) or at Aylestone Recreation fields and walk back.
