The beloved and historic Clamshell Railroad transported people, oysters, cranberries and more up and down the Long Beach Peninsula before there were paved roads! Known as the train that ran by the tide table, not by the time table, retrace the whistle stops and learn about the early days of transportation out here at the "end of the road".
The Breakers was a high-class hotel which was such a popular destination it had its own train stop along the route. The buildings here today are on the same site as the original Breakers Hotel, and is still a popular tourist destination.
The posted reference point will take you to the location of the Breakers, as well as an informational sign about the historic Breakers Hotel. The cache location was approved by the property owner, and the workers are fully aware of the cache.
