Twinkle Dust, or Sand is a loose granular substance, resulting from the disintegration and erosion of rocks and minerals. Sand is defined by size, being finer than gravel and coarser than silt. The composition of sand varies, depending on the local rock sources and conditions. Sand forms the major constituent of beaches, river beds, the seabed, and deserts.
The angle of repose, or critical angle of repose, of a granular material is the steepest angle of descent or dip relative to the horizontal plane to which a material can be piled without slumping. At this angle, the material on the slope face is on the verge of sliding. The angle of repose can range from 0° to 90°. Factors including grain size, grain shape, moisture content, clay content, and compaction will affect the angle of repose.

Earthcache (Twinkle Dust) Tasks. You will need to visit two locations. The listed coordinates and the reference locations. Please submit your answer to the cache owner.
-At each location take a cup of sand and pour onto a flat surface.
-Estimate the slump angle of the sand cone? (A protractor, level or an angle phone app will be useful)
-What factors do you think have affected the measured angles for your two samples?
