Udías y todo este espacio fue uno de los más tempranos espacios mineros de la región, cuyos orígenes contemporáneos se encuentran a mediados del siglo XIX. Tres cuartos de siglo de actividad minera ininterrumpida entre 1855 y 1932, a los que habría que añadir el decenio que va desde mediados de los años cincuenta hasta mediados de los sesenta del siglo anterior.
