Los enanos bigaristas viven en toperas en el campo o en las toberas o huecos en árboles de los densos bosques cántabros. Son enanos del tamaño de un puño, feos y barbudos, maduros y de arrugado rostro. Sus ojos son azules y chispeantes, pelo bermejo y piernas muy abultadas, sus pies visten unas calzas de color rojo. Se comunican entre ellos mediante un silbido similar al canto del mirlo.
Son seres de gran inteligencia, valentía y habilidad y con sabiduría casi divina. Son seres solitarios, aunque se sabe de enanas con las que se casan, son muy longevos pero no inmortales. Son muy buenos consejeros de los hombres y mujeres de la Montaña y es muy difícil ofenderles, ahora bien , guardan veneno, maldad y venganza, obrando con gran perversidad a quién consigue enojarlo. Se cree que esconden sus tesoros bajo tierra. Su sabiduría también les permite forjar alianza con alguna Anjana de buen entendimiento.
Son seres bondadosos por naturaleza.

They live in molehills in the country, in nozzles or holes in trees in the plush forests of Cantabria. They are ugly bearded fist sized dwarves who are old and wrinkled. They have blue sparkling eyes, russet hair and stumpy legs with red tights. They whistle like a blackbird song to communicate amongst themselves. They are extremely intelligent, brave and skilled beings and their wisdom is almost divine. They are lonely beings, although it is known that they marry female dwarves. They live long lives, but they are not immortal.
They give great advice to the men and women in the Mountains and it is quite difficult to offend the, yet they do have a tempered side, which consists of venom, cruelty and revenge for those who manage to get on their bad side. It is believed that they hide their treasures underground. Their wisdom also allows them to build an understanding allegiance with an Anjana. They are generous beings by nature.
