While hiking the trail one will notice a certain sound coming from the valley below. Do not attempt to track down the source of that noise by bushwhacking. The sound you’re hearing and possibly annoyed by is coming from a gun and rifle range.
During the placement of this cache I encountered a couple of hikers who actually turned back to head to their car because they thought people were randomly shooting guns in the woods and they didn’t feel safe. While I can’t guarantee anything, Its probably unlikely that any bullets would escape the range. That being said, the cache is located on the opposite side of the trail from the valley. You’re looking for a plastic ammo can near the side of a small side trail that leads up to a beautiful clear cut.
