Dingo’s Challenge: 15 Hides in One Day
A series of hides placed in the Jordan Creek area of the Tillamook State Forest. These were all placed using a 4x2 vehicle, however there is much slope so bring the 4x4 if you own one. Be prepared for spotty cell service, bring extra food, fuel and water just in case. Know how to identify poisonous plants. Bring binoculars if you have them because the views are amazing.
One of my favorite stories at this area. My family and I were camped at campsite #6 of this area, we arrived on a Thursday.( of Fourth of July weekend) Friday afternoon, a luxury car pulled up, they got out and asked where Flavius was. I had never heard of him, then another nice car, and another, and another, finally the man they were all looking for showed up about 7 pm. He was just beside himself with dismay that that anyone else might want to camp in the spot he promised 50 of his closest friends would be available, and waiting for them, Friday afternoon on the Fourth of July (spots here are first come). Until 4 am they kept coming looking for this man who clearly is not an event coordinator!! He was successful at finding a spot for his caravan to park their B.M.W.s (nothing against luxury cars, they just really aren't for camping) and all up the road they parked, the fact that a dirt bike trail comes right through it adds to its charm really. The Sheriff enjoyed coaching them on their illegal fire. and we all smiled when we saw Flavius and his close buds finally relaxing in the creek wearing a gold speedo, A GREAT memory, I DO admire his passion, and may name the new cat Flavius.
