Cougar Crest Trail, one of my favorite hikes in the Big Bear Lake Area.
I used to have a cache here but it seemed to have trouble staying in place. While I was up doing maintenance I thought I'd put another one here, for another break on the trail. It's slightly off the trail, just before you turn to meet the Pacific Crest Trail but well worth the detour due to the view going both South to the Lake and North to Holcomb Valley.
One Thanksgiving the adult kids took the grandchildren on a hike up Cougar Crest. When we reached this spot it started snowing. It was one of our most memorable hikes.
