Standing Stane
A simple cache placed at a road jucntion, close by a prominent standing stone.
The landscape here seems barren, although once it would have been covered by willow scrub, birch and hazel, but it povides peat for local crofters, and many habitats for wild birds from hooded crows to lapwings, sandpipers to divers. Keep an eye open for snipe, too, along with whooper swans that occasionally frequent the numerous lochs.
