About Porthpean
Porthpean is a safe, sandy, sheltered beach popular with families. The cliffs to the east are used by nesting birds, and there are lots of rock pools to the west. Safe for swimming, windsurfing and sailing, there is an active sailing club and Outdoor Education Centre that operates from this beach and it is possible to hire boats during the summer months. The beach is also cleaned daily during the summer season. Dogs are banned between Easter and September, but free to visit outside of those times. The SW Coast Path passes over this beach and it is a pleasant walk to the nearby Georgian port of Charlestown to the east.
