Welcome to the Ballinafid nature walk. A really nice area to stroll through and only a little over a 1km looped walk.
We come down here at all times of the year, if it’s particularly wet weather you may need wellies for the non boardwalk sections.
There are 3 caches here, hopefully not too difficult to find.
Caches 3 & 2 are accessible from the path & boardwalk respectively.
The habitat here in Ballinafid ranges from reed swamp to fen wetland, bog and woodland.
The main tree species here are scotts pine, birch and willow. The site is home to one of the most interesting and diverse range of invertebrates in Ireland.
You can usually spot a frog or two. A looped walk on a board walk and track brings you through woodland and bog. To find this cache, follow the boardwalk to the end and take the geo trail to the left down towards the lakeshore.
Enjoy guys
