[RO] Stabilopdul este un bloc de beton în formă de stea, cu patru suporturi prevăzuți la capete cu protuberanțe de forma unor creste rotunjite, folosit la împingerea apei. Deși sunt întâlniți cu preponderență în zonele de litoral, iată că putem să-i vedem și la munte. Câteva grupuri ciudate de stabilopozi se găsesc lângă barajul de pe Râul Târgului.
Cine a inventat stabilopozii? Ei bine, un român pe nume Mircea Ulubeanu.
Realizările specialistului hidrotehnist Mircea Ulubeanu au devenit celebre. De-a lungul anilor, structurile de beton de pe malul mării au ajuns parte integrantă a peisajului litoralului românesc.
Faimoasa promenadă de lângă Cazinoul din Constanţa este străjuită de ţesătura de stabilopozi – acele structuri de beton cu formă tetraedrică pe care toată lumea le admiră, dar aproape nimeni nu ştie cine le-a creat. Autorul lor este bucureşteanul Mircea Ulubeanu, un strălucit inginer român care a fost deseori comparat cu Anghel Saligny pentru ideile sale inovatoare. Creatorul stabilopozilor s-a stins din viaţă în 2005, fără o recunoaştere publică pe deplin meritată.
Într-un interviu al vremii, inginerul mărturisea că inspiraţia i-a venit de la ciorchinele de strugure despodobit de boabe. Au fost necesare experienţe de laborator, pe care le-a făcut ajutat de inginerul Mircea Lateş. Acesta lucra la un laborator care simula efectul valurilor asupra blocurilor de beton şi eficienţa lor în apărarea digurilor. La capătul stabilopodului s-au încercat mai multe feluri de terminaţii: rotunde, pătrate şi, în fine, triunghiulare. Aceasta a fost varianta optimă, pentru că aşa se agăţau stabilopozii cel mai bine unul de altul, lăsând spaţiu destul în care valurile să se spargă pierzându-şi puterea. Invenţia a fost brevetată în 1965 în România, apoi în Anglia, Germania, Franţa, India, Italia, Japonia.

The famous promenade next to the Constanta Casino is guarded by the fabric of stabilophoids - those tetrahedric structures that everybody admire, but almost no one knows who created them. Their author is Bucharest Mircea Ulubeanu, a brilliant Romanian engineer who was often compared to Anghel Saligny for his innovative ideas. The stabilizer's creator died out in 2005 without a fully-fledged public recognition.
In an interview with the weather, the engineer confessed that the inspiration came from grape bunches of grains. Laboratory experiences were required, which was helped by the engineer Mircea Lateş. He was working in a laboratory that simulated the effect of waves on concrete blocks and their efficiency in defending dams. At the end of the stabilopod, several kinds of terminations were tried: round, square, and finally triangular. This was the optimal option because it was the best to keep the stabilopos from each other, leaving enough space for the waves to break, losing their power. The invention was patented in 1965 in Romania, then in England, Germany, France, India, Italy, Japan.
