Woodland Park is one of the lesser-known gems of Houston. The reason for its creation in the early 20th century was the streetcar line that (according to its owners) didn't get enough weekend riders. To help the situation, the streetcar company purchased some land, dammed the Little White Oak bayou to create a lake, and extended the like to the newly created public park. It's the second oldest park in Houston, and the site of the first city zoo. The trolley is a replica of the actual streetcar used on the line about 100 years ago.
Usually plenty of parking available just a few feet from the cache. High muggle activity on weekends!
