Geocache Description:

Waverley Netball Centre was the brainchild of Mrs. Anne George. Anne was the president of the Waverley Night Netball Association and became the appointed Centre Manager and took on the major task of managing the facility when it first opened in 1994.

The aim of the Waverley Netball Centre is:

  • (1) To encourage and promote netball in the Waverley area.
  • (2) To organize and operate competitions to enable players from all metropolitan and nearby country areas to compete at all levels in a first-class indoor netball center.
  • (3) To bring to Waverley and Victoria a unique venue specially designed to operate international, national, state and local events.
  • (4) To provide elite netballers the opportunity to train and compete in an outstanding sporting facility.

This is a relatively short multi-cache designed for the Netball spectator who is a geocacher or anyone in the area. Some knowledge of the sport of Netball is required though. If you go here most nights of the week during the season, the place is very busy with back to back games on all 12 courts. Sometimes the gates are closed so you can park outside and check clue at posted coordinates and then drive into Jells Park further east and park closer to the centre for WP1 - IF the gates are open and Netball is on - It would be better to park near the posted coordinates - (recommended ) rather than battle the Netballer mums and dads close to the courts. You can walk up to the Centre.

The Cache-

At the posted coordinates, is the sign for the Waverley Womens Sports Centre. On this sign, the Waverley Netball Centre is ABC m

At Waypoint 1 is where the plaque of opening of this great facility is situated. It was officially opened DE/FG/1994 which is different to what is on the website.

If you move to the Waypoint 2 you can appreciate the size of this place. From this point, count the number of spotlights lighting the outside courts - (07/10/2021 - new courts, new number of lights - adjustments made) - = HJ lights on the tall posts - only the lights on the tops of the poles.

From your knowledge of netball there are 7 positions on the court for the players - players bibs have abbreviated letters to depict these positions - Considering all the positions, which single letter is represented the most times? This letter appears K times and its alphabetical ordered equivalent number is L.

Cache is located at S 37 5(A + C) . (H + J ) (L - D) (D + F + K ) E 145 1F. (B + F + K ) K ( F + G )

I have got permission to place this cache from Parks Victoria so, please replace cache as found hidden away, deep in its hiding spot and try not to disturb the vegetation. You are looking for a Sistema 400ml container. The cache contains log, pencil instant scratchie for FTF ( FTF went to n0w0rries)- room for swappables.

Check your solution. South sum of coordinates = 37 East sum of coordinates = 22
