This cache was placed with permission. CO is a member of the congregation. Below is a brief timeline of the congregation. 

 

 

In 1868, the first services were held in the Mackey School house located by GC592TG. At that time, a Pastor was shared with the congregation from Boonesborough.

In 1876, the first building was erected on the present property.

In 1882, a Christian Day School was established, one of the first Lutheran schools in Iowa.

In 1884, the congregation became self-sustaining, it’s first parsonage was built, and the congregation joined the Iowa District of what became the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

In 1888, the congregation was legally incorporated under the name, “The Evangelical Lutheran St. Paul’s Congregation, Mackey, Boone County, Iowa”.

In 1898, the present day church building was constructed and dedicated.

In 1908, the ladies of the congregation organized and formed the St. Paul Ladies’ Society.

In 1912, the present day parsonage was constructed and the 1884 parsonage became the teacher’s house.

In 1917, a new school building was built.

In 1925, an additional classroom, Parish hall and kitchen were added to the school building and a second teacher was hired.

In the 1930’s (exact date unknown), electricity was added to all of the church buildings.

During the 1940’s, a new teacherage was built. Indoor plumbing was added to the parsonage, teacherage and school. 

In 1948, the sanctuary was redecorated and rededicated.

In 1953, the congregation established a Walter League for the youth.

In 1957, a weekly Sunday School was established.

In 1967, the congregation’s sanctuary was remodeled and redecorated. 

In 1968, St Paul’s formed a dual Parish with Trinity Lutheran in Dayton. The congregation also merged its school with Trinity Lutheran in Boone.

In 1989, the joint School was dissolved.

In 1991, St. Paul became an independent congregation since Trinity, Dayton and Zion, Ogden formed a dual Parish. 

In 1996, the teacherage was sold and relocated to another location.

In 2003, a vacancy relationship was formed with Trinity, Dayton, which continues to today.

In 2005, the reconstruction of the Parish Hall was completed.

In 2018, the congregation remodeled and redecorated the interior of the church building to celebrate its 150th anniversary on August 11-12, 2018.
