The Grassridge area is a highly environmentally impacted area just utside of the Addo National Park in the Eastern Cape. The area houses a cement mine, power station and wind farm.
Although built after the suitable Environmental Impact Assesments - valid at the time - much of this development would not be approved today. Ecologists have found that the specific Thicket type found in this area does not recover as well as initially thought, and as a result much of this Biome has been severely compromised.
