The first time I came up here it was to [A:] to see if Teapot mountain lived up to the hype. Spoiler alert! It does. And [B:] find the I'm a little Teapot geocache [GCG56X]. I absolutely fell in love with this hike, and it quickly became my favourite place to eat my lunch.
To get to the cache, grab your hiking poles [or not], and one step at a time slowly make your way up the mountain. The trail is only 800 metres to the top, but it's quite steep so hike carefully. Once at the "Trail" sign, turning right [instead of left] is the much more rewarding way to hike to the main viewpoint. There is a second [much, much smaller and while pretty, it's mostly unrewarding] viewpoint area where you can take a quick stop to overlook Crooked River. It is here where you will make the find.
Please take extra care when opening and closing the guardian [it snaps on/off], and hold the top steady while unscrewing the base of the cache. Once you've gotten your smiley, carry on towards the main viewpoint and take a longer break to enjoy the view before finding "I'm A Little Teapot" on your way out.
Take caution going down, especially if the ground is wet. And don't forget your lunch.
