This "Moai" was sculpted by artist Alejandro Pakarati, a native of "Rapa Nui" (Easter Island) and is carved from volcanic stone. Unveiled in 2004, it is 3 metres in height and approximately 1.5 metres in width and set on a concrete base. The sculpture is a replica of an Easter Island Head or "Moai" which on average, stand 4 metres high and depict human heads-on-torsos from rough hardened volcanic ash. There are no two identical Moai’s in existence with approximately 1000 on Easter Island - and just the one in Dublin.
