Elston Hall was the residence of the Darwin family from 1680 until after WWII when the Hall was sold. The most famous Darwin to have lived there was Erasmus Darwin, Charles' grandfather. Charles is also known to have visited on a number of occasions.
Elston village sign sits on the village playing field between the church, shop and school. It depicts the village past which is predominantly a farming community.
