This is my first hide, so I wanted it to be at a location that is meaningful to me, and is also a cool place for people to check out and enjoy. This is one of the best places in Santa Cruz to watch waves crash - there are several big rocks, and as long as there is some swell, the waves will shoot up anywhere from 10-40ft up in the air off the rocks. Quite a spectacle! It is also a great place to watch the sunset, hangout with/meet locals, watch surfers, and be jealous of rich people and their amazing coastal homes (there are a few really cool houses here). When the tide is low you can also go down to the sand and let your dog run around, toss a frisbee, or climb around on the rocks.
The cache is a micro, a small black tube that is magnetic. BYOP as only the log fits. It is near the end of Rockview drive, near Pleasure Point. There is plenty of parking, unless it is a Sat/Sun. between 11am and 5pm, during which you need a resident parking permit. If you don't have one, park on 30th ave or along East Cliff Dr. Or if you want to grab it real quick, just pull up to the end of the street and get out real quick - surfers do it all the time to check the waves.
I tried to make it hard enough that muggles won't stumble across it (there can be a lot here at sunset), but still relatively easy for the geocacher. Please let me know what you think of the hide! Good luck!
PS, if you want some water or need to use the restroom, just walk over to Pleasure Point Park for public restrooms, water fountains, and doggie poop bags.
