The Ghost of Carnegie Library
a known paranormal hotspot in Rome, Georgia
The Carnegie Library opened on May 2, 1911. Built with funds from the Victorian industrial and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, the cost of the library was $13,602. When the library first opened, it became the cultural center of Rome and, within the first month of operation, signed on almost 700 users. Virtually all of the nearly 1,700 Carnegie libraries built in the United States had steps leading to the grand entrance, symbolizing how the library helped elevate the knowledge of the individual user.
- This geocache was placed with the permission of the Manager of the City of Rome.
- Pets are welcome but must be on a 6' leash at all times. Please be a good pet owner and clean up after your pet.
