Geocache Description:

Te Ara Paparārangi is a 5km walk along the Harbour Escarpment between Waihinahina Park and the Promontory Crescent in Newlands. It does connect and transition with other streets like Tamworth Crescent and Cromwell Point so I will indicate trail heads for those not familiar with the area.

The walk is a good grade and not difficult, so is suitable for those of average fitness and all ages. There are no steps so this walk is buggy friendly, although be aware there are some steeper sections on the old section of track.

The greatest attraction of this walkway is the stunning views of Wellington Harbour and tranquillity of the regenerating and old growth native forest in Gilberd Bush Reserve. All along the route are numerous viewpoints.

The walk follows a shared use track. The track goes below Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi marae and residential properties – please keep to the track.

This cache is a small container hidden at a low difficulty level to encourage new local cachers. There is a small amount of room for trackables and swag. BYOP.
