I had a geocache at this exact location. It was destroyed by the Thomas Fire in December 2017. Out of the Ashes come new caches.
The old geocache nearly survived the fire in a viable condition, but unfortunately, the container and the log fused together and could not be separated. I put the old container into the new container for posterity sake.
This is a pill bottle under a SPOR on the downhill side of the trail.
At one time the Horn Canyon Trail was fully populated with geocaches, an OVC tradition. But over the years, a few geocaches have gone missing and been archived. In December 2017, the Thomas Fire destroyed eleven of the 13 remaining geocaches. Today, hiking with ShearBear64, I am returning this trail to its "fully populated" glory.
