The new suburbs of the Molonglo valley are home to some fantastic outdoor public spaces. Here at Link Park is a fine example, with extensive landscaping and plantings, shaded picnic areas, seating, exercise equipment, and clever engineering when it comes to the management of stormwater. Link Park runs along Peter Cullen Way, named after Peter Cullen, renowned fresh water ecologist whose studies on Lake Burley Griffin in the 1970's contributed to the design of subsequent lakes and ponds around Canberra. In 2001 he was awarded the Prime Ministers Prize for Environmentalist of the year.
