In memory of the fifty-one residents of Leeds who lost their lives on Saturday, May 16, 1874 when the Hampshire Reservoir, north of Williamsburg, collapsed and released a raging torrent which roared down the Mill River valley. The rampaging water spent its fury in barely ten minutes, leaving in its horrific wake an obliterated valley of death and devastation.
