Geocache Description:

The LEC - Gunpowder, Treason and Plot

It’s Guy Fawkes Night, otherwise known locally as Bonfire Night or Firework Night. According to the internet this annual event is held on the 5th November, and its history began with the events of 5th November 1605, when Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, was arrested while guarding explosives the plotters had placed beneath the House of Lords. Celebrating the fact that King James I had survived the attempt on his life, people lit bonfires around London, and months later, the introduction of the Observance of 5th November Act enforced an annual public day of thanksgiving for the plot's failure.

So why not bring a flask of soup, or your favourite hot drink, and join us to watch the best free firework display in the area, you can literally see everyone’s fireworks for as far as the eye can see 😃

Date: Monday 5th November 2018

Time: 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Location: Reigate Hill

There will be an event log to sign and a container for small TBs and Geocoins. However, unfortunately due to the event's location it is unsuitable for large trackables.
