Geocache Description:

Dellwood Park has a rich history dating back to the 1800’s.  The many natural chalybeate springs located here were well known by travelers looking to stop and water their horses.  The rich mineral content of the waters often changes the color of the water from deep blueish greens some days and others a rust brown.  These minerals are said to give healing properties to anyone who drinks from the springs.  Around 1907 a two story hotel was built on the site of Dellwood Park and featured a wooden tramcar line that connected the hotel to what is now downtown Mount Pleasant.  Today this park is the pride of Mount Pleasant featuring walking paths, playgrounds, tennis courts, a pool and a Boy Scout hut.  Myself and my children have frequented this park and many days I find myself with coworkers walking this path at lunchtime escaping the doldrums of the office.  Hence the name of the cache, Lunchtime Lap! While you’re at the park, look around, enjoy the features and try to take yourself back to the late 1800’s when this was just a stop on the long road to Jefferson.
