The new suburbs of the Molonglo valley are home to some fantastic outdoor public spaces and neighbourhood parks. Here at Coombs Pond is a lovely example of how a stormwater runoff and drainage system can be transformed into beautiful lagoon with both aquatic and bird life. The suburb of Coombs is named after H.C. "Nugget" Coombs, the first Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia.
Circumnavigating the pond is a walking track from which you can observe ducks, coots and cormorants and admire the landscaping and plantings. There are spots to sit and maybe have a picnic. On the far side, if you cross the bridge there is a children's playground, with sheltered seating and play equipment. Coombs Pond is a water quality pond, so no swimming or watercraft.
The cache is located far enough from the bridge so that perhaps, a certain TE, might like to place a BB cache there. Please byo pen.
